Carry-in Supper
Just a reminder that the supper will be on Thursday, May 18th in the Gallery at Guilford Art Center at 5.30pm Please let me know if you are coming (Sheila.f.kaczmarek@gmail.com or 203.645.8827) so that we can get the tables and chairs organized.
2nd Member Show
Our second Member Show will be held in the Scranton Library – Receiving Saturday July 1st from 10 – 2pm. Opening Reception on Wednesday July 12th 5.30 – 7.30pm. Pick up at the end of the show Monday July 31st. 1.30 – 3.30. A reminder nearer the time will be sent out. The optional theme is “Less is more”
EXPO
Art League members will again have the opportunity to exhibit their work on the Guilford Green July 14th -16th during the Guilford Art Center’s Annual EXPO. Please note that you must have paid your current membership dues before registering for the EXPO event. (Check with Denise Casey – 203.815.2999 or dencasey@comcast.net) We thank Jodi Marra for all her hard work organizing this important event for us. It really is a wonderful opportunity to show your work during the huge New England Arts and Craft Exposition which is attended by thousands of people every summer. Entry forms will be sent out around June 1st.
Other Exhibit Opportunities
The Valentine H. Zahn Community Gallery at Middlesex Health has invited the Art League to exhibit our members’ work at their impressive gallery space in Westbrook. This show will be installed on Monday May 22nd from 9am – 11pm. The show will remain there until August 25th. The Medical Center will give us an opening reception with platters, prosecco and sparkling water on Wednesday May 31st from 5pm – 6.30pm. 22 artists have shown interest in submitting one or two pictures for this show. Please contact Sheila Kaczmarek (see above) if additional members would like to take part. The work should be wired to hang on their Walker system. A reminder will be emailed in a couple of weeks.
Community Center Exhibit
Do drop by the Community Center to see the latest exhibit of our members. This show will be there until July and a selection of the work can be seen on our website.
Juried Show
Our Annual Juried Show will be held in September at the Guilford Art Center. As usual, we expect a large number of visitors to this exhibition of excellent art in a wonderful gallery space. We sold 7 pieces of art last year. The Guilford Festival of the Arts will hold its annual celebration during our show and asked if they could hold some of their performances in the gallery while our exhibit is up (probably Monday Sept. 18th). We think this would be an excellent arrangement.
Richard Cretella Scholarship
Richard Cretella’s two daughters will be awarding “The Richard Cretella” Scholarship in Fine Art to two Guilford High School students who have distinguished themselves in the fine arts. This is the result of many donations in his memory.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the supper on May 18th!!
